When I stepped into downtown Auckland, I had been travelling for 23.5 hours. My hotel room wasn't ready and none of the shops were open. That was when I decided to go for a walk. This pier was my starting point and it was the perfect place to start a journey. Quiet and calm.
I loved the mossy stones that littered the path up to the top of Mount Eden. At the top of the path is where I spent the morning resting and taking in the cool breeze.
This was the view from my hotel room that greeted me for the first few hours of this trip.
Rotorua smelled of sulphur, but for me that didn't take away from the charm. One of the first walks I took sent me around the peninsula. A moody sky and bubbling water were my company.
He looked so lovely I needed to take his picture. The birds of New Zealand would soon become a theme amongst my pictures.
Ominous rain clouds hung over the town centre for much of my walk. Between the smell of sulphur and the cooling rain I was increasingly hungry for lunch.
