When I got back to Wellington, I was on my own and took some time to relax. Apparently my form of relaxing was immediately hiking up to Mount Victoria to find the Hobbit Hideaway. A filming location for Lord of the Rings.
Full disclosure, I have no idea if this is the right fallen tree. However it is entirely possible this is the tree where the Hobbits hid from the Black Riders. If it's not, I still really like the picture.
This geological formation was also in Lord of the Rings during the Paths of the Dead sequence. It was an excellent reason to take drive on a beautiful day and hike the countryside.
The Pinnacles were a bit precarious. The further I walked up the pathways to explore, the smaller the passages became. Rocks would tumble down behind me and settle at the bottom of the path.
I thought this was a cool spot and luckily the sky above the Pinnacles clouded over. Suddenly the pathways became ominous as I reached the end of my path.
This was the location where they built Rivendell. Conveniently, it was located on my drive back to Wellington from the Pinnacles. Apparently Orlando Bloom stood on this spot.
