I suspect my love of animals and zoos is no secret to those who follow or know me. I planned to visit two zoos while in Australia, and this is the first. Taronga Zoo was incredible and I'm itching to go back. I will however spare you all three posts worth of pictures and give you my favourites. This was also my last day in Sydney and contains one non-zoo picture!
Rock Wallaby
This section of the zoo was one of my favourites. It was in the style of an aviary, but contained a whole ecosystem of animals. This little gentleman was elusive.
Bird-o
I love birds as well. I don't have a good enough memory to remember them all. I do remember this colourful brid chirping at me as I walked by. Angry or happy, I'm still not sure.
Family Values
These chimpanzees were a big draw so I didn't spend too much time with them. It was enough time to see their family structure and how that plays into grooming.
Turtle Friend
We stared at each other for a good solid 20 minutes. He clearly was interested in my camera and I in him.
Sleepy Boy
This tree was covered in koalas. They were all sleeping. This guy looked the most peaceful. Not even a gaggle of school children could wake him.
Lemurs
They were my favourite when I was a child and a favourite now. My time with them was short, but it was the perfect period of the day to photograph them. Quiet and sleepy.
Sydney Tower Eye
I ended the day with a tourist trap. I went up the tower at the centre of the city and made a solid effort to get a good skyline. The light was perfect, and the refliections are minimal. I'll call this a win.
