The bungee jump people wisely advised me not to go through my leap because there was a high chance I'd throw out my back. Either way, the view of Taupo was quite lovely.
In the middle of Tongariro National Park sits Mount Ruapehu. This picture is one of my favourites from the trip. I love the water and colour of the fields that lead up to the cloudy peaks.
One of the first big hikes I did let me up a long and winding path to a view of the Upper and Lower Tama lakes. This is Mount Ruapehu with the Lower Tama lake in the foreground.
This was the Upper Tama lake. It is situated at the foot of Mount Ngauruhoe.
One of the reasons I came to New Zealand was to discover some locations from the Lord of the Rings movies and experience a new country. I wasn't disappointed. This mountain (Ngauruhoe) was the inspiration for Mount Doom.
This spot was incredibly peaceful. The weather had finally cleared after a few hours of walking and the only sounds I could hear was tumbling water flowing into the creek that disappeared into the forest canopy.
